What does it mean to be saved?

Lately, there seems to be a lot of confusion about salvation or “being saved.” The Bible tells us that there is only one way to salvation and reconciliation with God.

Our sins separate us from God. But God, in His infinite love for us, sent Jesus to save us. Through Jesus’ sacrificial death and resurrection, we can be forgiven and reconciled to God. We need only ask for this amazing gift! By accepting Jesus as our Savior, we are saved from an eternity of separation from God. And, we receive eternal life and a restored relationship with the Father.

Salvation is freely given when we, by faith, ask Jesus to be our Lord and Savior. Jesus is the only way to receive salvation and restoration.

Knowing Jesus

Accepting Jesus as Savior involves:

  • Faith in Jesus: Believing that Jesus is who He said He was—the Son of God who came to redeem humanity.
  • Acknowledgment of Sin: Admitting one’s sins and the need for forgiveness, understanding that all have sinned and fall short of God’s standard.
  • Repentance: A genuine desire to turn away from sin and seek a new life in Christ.
  • Acceptance of Jesus’ Sacrifice: Recognizing that Jesus’ death and resurrection are the foundation for forgiveness and reconciliation with God.
  • Commitment to Follow: Surrendering to Jesus as Lord, seeking to live according to His teachings, and cultivating a relationship with God.

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”’”

Romans 10:9-10 (NLT)

Ask Jesus into your heart…

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name, Amen.”
